Flight school

Since founding in 2006, more than 150 pilots have completed our flying school program. Excellent instructors – ex military pilots, who have had more than a thousand flight hours in their repertoire, are responsible for coaching trainees in the school.

Centre for pilot training „Zemun Polje“ has schooled the majority of Serbian pilots of ultralight aircraft. With its 20 year long legacy, it stands out as one of the greatest schools in region.

The biggest proof of incredible accomplishments in the pilot coaching center “Zemun Polje” is a very high percentage of successful theoretical and practical exams completion, as well as huge number of awards which our pilots had won on state competitions.

How to become a pilot?

The training for ultralight aircraft pilots consists of theoretical and practical segments. The first one will set up a firm foundation and prepare you for safe management of the aircrafts. Throughout the training, you will master the basis of meteorology, performance of the aircrafts, mechanical systems and similar modules planned for the program.

On the other hand, the practical segment consists of flying, at first with the help of our instructors, but later on your own.

The necessary number of flight hours for each of the aircraft you must fulfill before being given the pilot license are listed below:

  • gyrocopter: 35h in the air / 5h without the help from instructor
  • airplane: 30h in the air / 5h without the help from instructor
  • trike: 15h in the air / 3h without the help from instructor

Conditions and exams

After the training is complete, you will take a theoretical exam in Civil Aviation Directorate as well as practical flight exam in the presence of your instructor.

The whole procedure can be executed very quickly, but it depends on the hard work and effort of the trainee. For example, if the standard training sessions are in motion multiple times a week, the procedure can be shortened and completed in a matter of two to three months without any problems.

In order for you to apply, you must be at least 16 years old and carry out specific medical conditions:

  • no serious heart failures or disorders
  • normal blood pressure
  • no serious balance or muscular system disorders
  • no psychological disorders

Why should you become a pilot?

Flying has always been one of the biggest desires and fascinations of humankind. There are plenty of legends and myths surrounding the idea of flying that can be traced throughout a long history of the worldwide nation.

One of the most common answers that many people used to give when they were little, whenever they were asked what did they want to be when they grow up was: to become a pilot. However, eventually, when they grew up, they had realized that the road to becoming a pilot is long, expensive, hard and sometimes actually boring.

Well, ultralight aircraft provides quite the opposite – the absolute pleasure of guiding the entire plane, the excitement and beauty of the act itself as well as the complete freedom – and these things can become available for every average man.

Also, there are many benefits of getting the license for ultralight aircraft in comparison to conventional PPL license. Some of them are:

The license for ultralight aircraft is cheaper because it requires fewer flight hours and expenses for the training are lower as well

Ultralight aircraft planes and their servicing is cheaper

Fuel consumption is lower, therefore the price of flight per hour is cheaper

Ultralight aircraft planes are lighter and more sensitive to commands in comparison to general aviation vehicles so the management of them is more interesting and demanding

Ultralight aircraft planes are usually newer and technologically more advanced than traditional aviation planes.

The necessary conditions for getting medical authorization are less rigorous – although license for ultralight aircraft isn’t required for commercial pilots, the knowledge and experience gained in the field of sports aviation is very beneficial for every pilot who wants to perfect his craft.

The license for ultralight aircraft provides identical benefits as PLL license when it comes to taking international flights and flying your personal plane. However, the prices for flying and landing on airports are much lower

The authorization for trikes can be provided only with an enclosed license for ultralight aircraft flying.
